Android mapping with Hebrew or, using the osmDroid API with ease - Part 2: fixed stations (adding non GPS locations to the map).

Hi,
today we will add a new feature to our hebrew enabled mapping Android application that we started last time, this feature will be the ability to set fixed locations (ie stations) on the map.

I would like to start with 2 clarifications:
1. this post is a simplified tutorial for plusminus's amazing OSMDroid project so if my post isn't clear enough you can go directly to the source.

Android mapping with Hebrew or, using the osmDroid API with ease.

Hello,
last week i had the honor of attending an Android developers meeting that was organized by the "Israeli cantina" (http://www.cantina.org.il/) and was sponsored by "Google".
During the mingling portion of the evening it became apparent that the only thing that was greater than the interest in creating Android mapping applications in hebrew is the difficulty in doing so, so in this post i would like to share a bit of my experience in doing just that.

Recent case studies in Linnovate's mobile projects.

Since last year Linnovate's mobile team took part in some very complexed projects that utilizes the newest and most innovative technologies and i think it is about time that i'll blog on some of them:

Airport shuttle -
Featured use of HTML5 based web-sockets (push-technologies) via the "Pusherapp.com" API in order to create an LBS application that pin-points the location of an Iphone device and "places" it on a google map in realtime, one other great feature enabled was the ability to send instant messages to the devices.

AR3D - not R2D2 - augmented reality in 3D.

Hello all,
This blog feed is dedicated to augment reality (or "AR").

I was asked to create an Android application that will display a virtual "marker" over "reality" upon the discovery of a "pattern", in short i was asked to create a pattern oriented augmented reality mobile application (not that short, is it?).

Since i'm willing to bet that half of you reread the last line 2 or 3 times and are still wondering what am i blabbing about, this is the time for some glossary:
A mobile pattern oriented AR app workflow is as follows:

Online real-time mapping on drupal sites.

In this post I would like to show a way to combine Drupal OSM (open street maps) interface with websockets push technology, in order to allow drupal based sites to work as a real-time online monitor, for real world physical actions.
Unless you are already familiar with the terms that I have mentioned so far, you probably don't really understand what I am talking about, so as a prologue I'll elaborate on a few key terms:
