Setup postfix to work with Amazon SES
submitted by: Shai Weinstein

2. configure stunnel: edit configuration file /etc/stunnel/stunnel.conf [ssmtp_ses] accept = client = yes connect = 3. edit postfix configuration file /etc/postfix/ relayhost = []:10111 smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtp_sasl_tls_security_options = noanonymous smtp_sasl_mechanism_filter = plain, login 4. create /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd, set the user and password , get it from the AWS SES console: user:password and generate hashed file: cd /etc/postfix ; postmap hash:sasl_passwd 5. make sure that your application is sending from an email address which is verified by Amazon's SES (use the AWS SES console to verify new addresses). 6. reload postfix configuration and you are done..

A question -
Now, that postfix works with SES, does it solve the problems of the PHP mail(), which uses sendmail to send emails (and is very limited on EC2...) ?

I didn't try to use mail() directly.
Drupal is using mail() functions and it works fine with postfix
